I think that it would do alot of Americans, even me, a great deal of good to do a stint in the military. Not only would it force us to be in better shape, if everybody knew how to kill everybody else within a couple of seconds there would be lot less crime. Also it would give all those ghetto gang-bangers something to do in their copious free time. I think it would also give people a much better sense of what's REALLY going on and hopefull increase patrotisim. Which in my oh so humble opinion, is SEVERELY lacking in the younger generations.
And no I don't think the current recruitment system creates or sustains socioeconomic inequality. Because as of right now joining up is a choice. Sometimes a rich kid will make that choice, sometimes a poor kid will. It's a choice. And since we all have free will, some of us can choose to do nothing and some of us can choose to be part of something bigger.
So that's my opinion. AMERICA HELL YEAH!
